with Elle McDonald, PhD aka Gabriella Africa is the cradle of mankind, the birthplace of Homo sapiens and the place where all of our ancestors originated. When you first step foot on the continent a feeling of being home prevails. There is a spiritual quality to this place like no other on our planet. Our safari will explore this spirituality through the practice of yoga. We will begin in nature with six days in a private game reserve and end in the most beautiful city on the planet, Cape Town. This safari is limited to 14 participants. Safari Highlights:
Our Itinerary
Sunday, 22 March 2009 Monday - Saturday, 23 -
28 March 2009 Madikwe is a "Big Five" game reserve situated on the Botswana border. Iit is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa . The rich diversity of vegetation ensures a wide range of game and the topography offers ideal game viewing opportunities. One of South Africa 's largest game reserves, Madikwe has the distinction of being one of the few game reserves in the world to be proclaimed purely on the grounds of being the most appropriate and sustainable land use for an area. The reserve consists of vast plains of open woodlands and grasslands. The Dwarsberg Mountains form the southern border of the reserve. The area is dotted with huge rocky hills. The entire reserve has been enclosed in a 100 mile perimeter fence which has been electrified to prevent the escape of elephants and the larger predators. More than 8,000 animals of 28 species live in the reserve, including elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, Cape hunting dog, spotted hyaena, giraffe, zebra and many species of antelope and herbivores. Leopard, although difficult to spot, also live in Madikwe. During our six days, we will have the opportunity to go on game drives to observe and photograph the wildlife in the reserve. We will also experience both morning and evening yoga. There will also be quiet time for reflection and rest. Sunday – Thursday,
