SHANE MCDERMOTT
Shane's fascination with wildlife started when he was four years old.
From an early age great periods of time were spent drawing wildlife
that he would see in books and magazines, several of these images were
displayed and entered in art shows and exhibitions, several images
won awards and acclaimed recognition.
At about the age of 11 the "artist" retired and the "athlete" emerged,
sports now occupied Shane's time and energy. Despite this shift, nature remained
an intense allure and the kinship and connection with animals never subsided.
Then at the age of 39 Shane discovered "digital photography", FINALLY
a means of engaging with the natural world that would allow his artistic expression
to be captured and shared. In less than three years of photography, Shane has
visited Africa three times, India twice and several areas within North America
in search of amazing animals, wonderous landscapes and ancient cultures.
Finally at home with his artistic passion, Shane now sees nature photography
as a means of fulfilling his life's higher purpose, which is to inspire others
to fully embrace and cherish the splendid dynamics of nature.
